Calum Carswell is a composer studying for his PhD under the royal composer Paul Mealor at the University of Aberdeen. Carswell featured on the critically acclaimed New Choral Voices Vol.3 album, he held the post of Composer-in-Residence at St Paul’s Birmingham, and he composed the soundtrack for BBC Four’s animation project 'Headless Population'. His compositional voice seeks to foster a sense of beauty by shaping rich timbres with emotional depth that has been described by critics as ‘mystic and rather seductive’.

A piece of mine Letter from the front was featured on Colo Volante's critically acclaimed album New Choral Voices Vol. 3. The piece seeks to explore the emotional conflict felt by soldiers in the trenches of world war one. The song is available on iTunes and Spotify.
